Hi! We are smallpancakes 🥞

Recently, we’ve been missing the old web so we decided to build this site. The fun part of building a website is building the website. And now comes the challenging part, the blog!

To be honest, we’ve started a lot of blogs and then abandoned them within a couple of months, or even after the first post has been published.

One of the reasons was the friction to publish, we’ve acknowledged that we can not write on our phones, so the first thing we did was to get an iPad mini. Right now we’re using a Bluetooth keyboard for typing.

As this is a one time setup, so to not forget how things worked in the future, here’s how the tech stack and publishing flow.

Tech Stack

• Astro as the static site generator, so that we can write our posts in markdown and Astro can generate the html files
• Nekoweb for hosting
• GitHub Actions for continuous deployment to Nekoweb

Publishing Stack

• Ulysses as the markdown editor, a.k.a. the writing App
• Working Copy App for connecting to the source code on GitHub
  • We have the Pro version (30 USD one time purchase) so that we can push to the GitHub repository

Publishing Flow

1. Write with phone, iPad mini or computer
2. Use Working Copy to push the changes to GitHub
3. GitHub will automatically deploy it to Nekoweb
4. Site is now updated
